December in Our Lives

Can anyone else believe it already is a week until Christmas? Where did December go? Here's a snapshot (or two) of what's been going on in our lives:

Our Christmas tree - I actually put it up before I left for Thanksgiving (shh! I know, trees don't go up until after Thanksgiving!). But I didn't decorate it, just put lights on it. Then when we got back, I spent one evening decorating it. I actually kind of liked it that way. I didn't feel completely exhausted like I usually do after a full day of putting up the tree, putting on lights, decorating, then cleaning up after the mess of stuff. Here is our tree:

Daniel Graduated from ECU - my little brother graduated from ECU (East Central University) last Saturday with a degree in Biology. We made the trip to Ada with Mom and Dad and wow! I don't think I've been back to Ada since I moved out the summer of 2005 after my graduation! I felt old! It was good to go back for a visit. Next time I'll have to make sure and try to see people.

Baby News - I'm sure all of you were waiting for this one. :) I was 18 weeks last Friday and saw a cool pic on Facebook so tried to copy it. Here is what I got:

It's really dark, I know, but I like the way this one turned out.

This is my fav! I got a new camera too!

Belly pic! I don't think this picture does my belly justice. I think it grew overnight after this pic!

We're getting a new member to our family! - Daniel and April are getting hitched! Daniel took April with him after graduation and lunch and took her to Falls Creek - where they started dating almost 3 years ago. He proposed and she said yes! So I'm getting another sister! I can't wait. They set the date, but not sure if it is public knowledge yet so I'll keep it a secret for now. Let's just say Baby Harrelson will be here and its a summer wedding!

Congratulations, little brother & my new sister! So happy for you two!

Thanksgiving 09

A month later I'm finally posting about Thanksgiving. I guess I should get used to life passing by this fast, but for some reason I can't!

This year we did Thanksgiving with my family in Oklahoma. We're spending Christmas with Randy's family so Thanksgiving worked out better in Oklahoma. Randy had to work Thankgiving so I went up early by myself on Tuesday. My company was in the middle of an aquisition transition this year, so I had saved most of my vacation for the holidays. It has been nice, to have extra time at the holidays. :)

Anyways, back to Thanksgiving. Wednesday I went to see Amy and the girls and give them their aprons I made them way back in the summer. They loved them! Especially Reese.

I think they like them!

All the pics of Meleah are on Amy's camera, I was holding her when she opened hers.

Thursday Mom and I finished up cooking for a late lunch. It turned out to be such a nice day. The rest of the family arrived and we ate lunch/dinner. Family pictures were attempted afterwards, but we ate so late that most of the daylight was already gone. Oh well!

Friday, Dad and I got up early and hit the sales. Let me just preface this with I hate shopping when it is crowded, i.e. the day after Thanksgiving. But something in me wanted to try this year and Dad was willing to go so we did. (I think the pregnancy is affecting my judgement! ha!) I ended up being able to get all of Randy's presents and even found a few deals for myself. It was fun, but I was so tired by the end. We ended up seeing the Clampet girls in Academy which was a fun surprise.

Saturday, Mom and I put up their Christmas tree and the guys did the outside lights. I forgot how big Mom's tree is! I'm hoping she can find one on clearance this year after Christmas that is a little easier to put together. Speaking of, we got a new tree this year. We actually bought it last year on clearance after Christmas so this was our first year to put it up. If you remember any of my Christmas pics of our apartment in the past, I've only ever put up small trees. Our new one is 7.5' and big. I love it though! It has pine cones wired to the branches and looks less artificial than some trees. I found a cute tree skirt at Hobby Lobby that matches our stockings and ta-da! It looks put together. I'll post pics in my next post.

Here is a slide show from Thanksgiving. You can hit the pause button and click through the pics if you want. I just don't have time to post all the ones I wanted to, so figured this would be easiest.

16 weeks and some change

So it has already been a month since the last post? Wow! I really didn't mean to not post for a whole month. Things were kind of busy in November. We celebrated Mom's birthday, got to meet our new cousin Peyton, Randy did his physical test for the Arlington Fire Department, then we had Thanksgiving and now it is December. Guess I should post our 16 week post and work on the rest later. :)

I was 16 weeks on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The past month has been really good. The nausea is almost all gone and I have a lot of my energy back. No strange cravings so far, just an increased appetite. Which is great except when I step on the scales. We had our 16 week appointment on Monday and everything checked out fine. We heard the heartbeat, which is incredible every time we hear it. Our BIG sonogram is scheduled for December 28th, when we will hopefully find out if our little peanut is a boy or a girl. I'm putting a poll on my blog to see how many of you think its a boy and how many think its a girl. So make your vote count!

Here are some pictures of me at 16.5 weeks:

Oh and do you want a peak at cute Baby Harrelson?

Because of an unexpected trip to the doctor, we got a surprise sonogram yesterday. Everything is fine, Baby H is healthy and measuring right on track. They took all the measurements and Baby H is coming in at 7 ounces and 6.25 inches long. Pretty cool, huh? God is so amazing. To watch (so to speak) him knitting together our little blessing is just indescribable.

While the sonogram was going on yesterday, our little blessing wouldn't stay still. Apparently he/she gets that from his/her daddy. Lol! The sonographer told me she was going to try to see if our blessing was a boy or a girl. I really wanted Randy to be there to find out with me, so she agreed to not tell me but to put it in an envelope and let me take it home to open with Randy. The only catch was our little stinker had his/her legs crossed and wouldn't uncross them no matter what we tried. It all turned out fine in the end. We get to keep our Dec 28th appointment and find out together!

So stay tuned for our BIG reveal at the end of the month, if our little stinker cooperates! You can click here for more pictures.

12 weeks and counting

Wondering what we've been up to? Well, pretty much the same old thing. Work, church, getting more excited about our little blessing that is on his/her way. All the normal stuff. :) I know some of you have been anxiously awaiting an update on Baby Harrelson, so here goes:

As of last Friday we are officially 13 weeks (I've had this post in the works for a while now), only 27 to go! lol! I had my 2nd doctor's appointment on the 3rd of November. Everything was good, we listened to the heartbeat, I got weighed and that was about it. We are right on track so they haven't adjusted our due date yet. It's still on for May 14th. Our next appointment is the first week in December.

How have I been feeling? I have been really good. I'm getting some of my energy back which is great for me and my to-do list. Most of the nausea is gone, I only really notice it in the mornings now and usually when I don't take my vitamins with breakfast. I really can't complain, I've been blessed so far with little morning sickness. I've gained 5 lbs. so far (since before I was pregnant) and Mom and I had to go shopping for more pants and shirts this weekend. Some things still fit, but some don't. No official maternity clothes yet, just looser shirts and pants.

For more pics, you can go here. Enjoy! Thanks for all your prayers for us too. We appreciate them.

PS - All these pics are self portraits except the one at 10.5 weeks. It's hard to look natural in these!

All the details

So by now everyone's probably seen our big news we announced earlier today. :) Let me just say, we are just overwhelmed with all the prayers, blessings, and congrats we've recieved. We are so blessed to have such a great family and friends surrounding us right now. We are thankful for each of you.

Since everyone has been asking (well not everyone, but a lot of you), here are some of the important details.

How far along are you? I am 8 weeks and 3 days today. The baby is measuring at 8 weeks 4 days, so we are both right where we should be.

When did we find out? We've known for about 3 weeks now. We told are family, who were so excited some didn't even believe us. I always wanted to do something special to let Randy & our families know, but we were so excited that we just called to let them know. The hard part was keeping it a secret for the past 3 weeks.

We had our first doctor's appointment today and all is good. My due date is May 14th, which I hear a certain little girl in OK is especially excited about.

I haven't been that sick, so far. Nausea and fatigue have been my main challenges. Thankfully, the nausea hasn't been enough to keep me down or away from work. I'm learning more and more how to keep it at bay.

Am I showing yet? Not really. I feel like it. My dress pants no longer fit, but my jeans still do. It is more like I had too much to eat than an actual baby bump.

I think that's all. If I forgot something, just let me know.

Oh and a HUGE shout out to Brooke, my inspiration for our announcement post. She just announced her pregnancy a few weeks ago with the same rhyme and I just loved it! Thanks Brooke for letting me use it!

Guess what????

Sonia's 50th Birthday Surprise

I've had this blog in progress for weeks now, just now getting around to posting it. Sorry for the long blog hiatus. Things have been kind of busy around here. Hopefully I'll be able to post a what's been going on blog soon!

My wonderful mother-in-love turned 50 this month! So we decided to celebrate it with her. If you know Randy - you know he loves surprises. He will wrap my Christmas presents and hide them from me a month in advance (if he remembers to shop that early). He has even hid them in plain sight and I didn't have a clue. Anyways, back to the birthday, I talked with him about how we could surprise her for her birthday. After lots of plans, canceled plans, new plans, we finally had one. We would drive out on Friday afternoon to surprise her and spend her birthday with her on Saturday. Kristi and Andrew couldn't go, but graciously decided to let sweet Bella go with us. Yes, that's right, Randy & I took Bella with us on a 5.5 hr drive - without her parents. Let's just say, she loves her "Wachel" and "Wandy." :)

We headed out on Friday afternoon - in the rain. I think it rained over half of the drive there. Needless to say, baby girl didn't get a very long nap. She was so good though. We kept the "nacks" handy and made a few stops and all was good (once we found her pillow and figured out she wanted her paci). We got to Sonia and Bruce's about 7 and rang the doorbell. She was so surprised! She had an idea Randy & I were coming, but no clue about Bella! It was so cool to surprise her that way. Thanks K & A for sending Bella with us for the weekend!

Saturday we loaded up and took Bella to a park that was decorated for September 11th with an American flag for everyone who died on September 11th, 2001. We got some great pics.

On Sunday we got to go visit Randy's Grandmother, Aunt, Uncle & Cousin. Here are some family pics we got while there. And we celebrated Sonia's birthday again while there.

A good one

Sonia - I hope you had a great birthday weekend. We so enjoyed surprising you! Thank you for being such a great mom to Randy and a wonderful mother-in-law to me. We love you so much. Happy Birthday!
