Anniversary Trip - Frio River

For our second anniversary, Randy & I decided to take a trip to the Texas Hill Country again this year. Last year we went to Fredricksburg and visited Enchanted Rock. This year I ran across a blog about Garner State Park and the Frio River. I started researching it and it seemed like a cool place to visit. There were lots of cabins to rent and the Frio River boasted being spring-fed, clear, and cool. Sounded great. So we reserved a cabin in Concan, TX and figured out our work schedules.

We headed out on Friday, after I had been in Boston for 3 days, then worked from home for one. Needless to say, I didn't get as much done ahead of time as I had hoped. But we got everything packed and headed out bright and early. We got to our cabin around 4 that afternoon. After unpacking, we headed down to the river - literally 50 yards from our cabin. Randy was in heaven! He couldn't wait to get his fishing pole out and start fishing.

We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, fishing, reading (well, I did), eating, and just hanging out at the river. We had hoped to float the river while we were there, but as its name suggests, the Frio River is cold. Especially when it is cloudy and somewhat rainy the whole time we were there. Randy did venture in the river to do some fishing, and I've got pictures to prove it. I did try getting in for a little bit to swim, but it was really cold.

Oh and another cool thing is every morning and evening several deer came to feed in the pecan grove right outside our cabin. It was so neat.

Here are some pictures from our trip. The ones that look like random trees and such are for a special project I have yet to finish. I'll reveal it as soon as I finish. Enjoy!

New Do

Ready to be shocked?
I got my hair cut this afternoon. I have been wanting to do something different with it, a little shorter for the summer, something fun but easy to fix. So when Randy told me Carla (the lady who cuts his hair) had an appointment on Saturday I took it.
Here's the big reveal:

Yes, it is the shortest I have ever had it before. But that's what is great about hair....it grows! I like it. Ask me again tomorrow morning when I get ready.

Happy Birthday, Abby Grace!

Today is Abby's 5th birthday, so in honor of her day I searched through my pics online to find the earliest one I could of her and I (& Randy). Here is what I found:
These were from the summer of '05 when Randy & I took Abby to the Gainesville Zoo. She loved it! I know I have pics of us when she was younger but they aren't uploaded.

Here's to you Abby-girl! Your Aunt Rachel & Uncle Randy love you so much!

Gotta read this!

So I know I relate to this article way too much when I stopped what I was doing just to post this link to my blog. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Oh, and Randy hasn't gotten to this point yet, but I'm working on him!
