Anniversary Trip - Frio River

For our second anniversary, Randy & I decided to take a trip to the Texas Hill Country again this year. Last year we went to Fredricksburg and visited Enchanted Rock. This year I ran across a blog about Garner State Park and the Frio River. I started researching it and it seemed like a cool place to visit. There were lots of cabins to rent and the Frio River boasted being spring-fed, clear, and cool. Sounded great. So we reserved a cabin in Concan, TX and figured out our work schedules.

We headed out on Friday, after I had been in Boston for 3 days, then worked from home for one. Needless to say, I didn't get as much done ahead of time as I had hoped. But we got everything packed and headed out bright and early. We got to our cabin around 4 that afternoon. After unpacking, we headed down to the river - literally 50 yards from our cabin. Randy was in heaven! He couldn't wait to get his fishing pole out and start fishing.

We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, fishing, reading (well, I did), eating, and just hanging out at the river. We had hoped to float the river while we were there, but as its name suggests, the Frio River is cold. Especially when it is cloudy and somewhat rainy the whole time we were there. Randy did venture in the river to do some fishing, and I've got pictures to prove it. I did try getting in for a little bit to swim, but it was really cold.

Oh and another cool thing is every morning and evening several deer came to feed in the pecan grove right outside our cabin. It was so neat.

Here are some pictures from our trip. The ones that look like random trees and such are for a special project I have yet to finish. I'll reveal it as soon as I finish. Enjoy!

New Do

Ready to be shocked?
I got my hair cut this afternoon. I have been wanting to do something different with it, a little shorter for the summer, something fun but easy to fix. So when Randy told me Carla (the lady who cuts his hair) had an appointment on Saturday I took it.
Here's the big reveal:

Yes, it is the shortest I have ever had it before. But that's what is great about hair....it grows! I like it. Ask me again tomorrow morning when I get ready.

Happy Birthday, Abby Grace!

Today is Abby's 5th birthday, so in honor of her day I searched through my pics online to find the earliest one I could of her and I (& Randy). Here is what I found:
These were from the summer of '05 when Randy & I took Abby to the Gainesville Zoo. She loved it! I know I have pics of us when she was younger but they aren't uploaded.

Here's to you Abby-girl! Your Aunt Rachel & Uncle Randy love you so much!

Gotta read this!

So I know I relate to this article way too much when I stopped what I was doing just to post this link to my blog. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Oh, and Randy hasn't gotten to this point yet, but I'm working on him!

And we're off!! (well almost)

So I didn't get around to blogging again about my trip to Boston. The short version of it is I was in meetings all day Tuesday and Wednesday, got to go eat downtown in Boston, almost missed my flight because of pouring rain (& something else I'll discuss later). But I'm home and so glad. I worked all day today from home, with lots of plans to get our stuff ready for our trip this weekend. Didn't happen. My boss called about lunch time with a project that was labeled URGENT. So I worked on it the rest of the day and did all my errands tonight. Yeah, we aren't packed, don't have all our groceries yet, and I'm blogging. :) I needed a break from things I "have" to do. I'm so looking forward to this weekend away. We really need a break from work and the busyness of life. So here's me signing off for a week(end). I love you all and hopefully will have time to catch up on blogging when we get back. Good night!

Not in Texas anymore!

I'm sitting here in Boston checking email, thinking it's only 9 at home and 10 here. If you didn't already know - I came to Boston today for work. I'm here until Wednesday night. So far the trip has been fine. I am super tired (from getting up at 4 this morning) and so ready for bed. If you think about me in the next 2 days, say a prayer if you don't mind. We're working on the integration of our division with our new company.

Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow night to post about the Jeremy Camp concert, my birthday and Easter. Lots has happened. I've just been too tired to blog at night. ;)

KBug's robot

While Randy & I were dating and I was living in north Dallas, we became a part of the TCAL Launch team. TCAL (our church) is in Mansfield so the delimma of distance faced me each weekend. Add to that, Randy lived in Cedar Hill and it make it even more complicated. Thankfully Paul & Shannon invited me to stay with them on the weekend in their guest room. I became their "live-in, adopted, single daughter." I spent many a Saturday morning at Kayleigh's soccer games. Each weekend was a sweet time with them. I got to be apart of TCAL, see Randy more, and not have to drive so far on Sunday mornings for church. Paul married Randy & I and Shannon was our wedding coordinator. :) So when I found out Shannon & Kayleigh were struggling with a school project - I volunteered to help. Kayleigh had to build a robot that was at least 1 foot tall. It could move, have lights, and had to use 2 & 3 dimensional shapes (still not sure what other kind we could have used, but I digress). Monday night after work, I headed over and Shannon and I started brainstorming (Kayleigh was at soccer practice). I came up with the cool idea to make it look like a book with arms and a head. Shannon thought a dog-bot would be cute. Neither made the cut with Kayleigh though. We ended up making a good-ol'fashioned robot - complete with wires, tin foil, glue and antennae. It turned out really good. After we (Shannon & I) built the body, Kayleigh pretty much did the rest. We offered ideas and helped with the contruction of it - but it was Kayleigh who make the final decision on what it looked like. Isn't it cute? It's name is PT - and no it doesn't stand for anything.
